Brits and Anglophiles gathered at the Palm Court to 'break bread' together and enjoy an evening of good food and drink, good music, and good company.  Just like a traditional British Pub.

Sausage rolls, Scotch eggs, British cheese, pickled onions, Shepherds Pie, Beef Curry, Onion Tart, Sherry Trifle, Apple Crumble and Creme Caramel were on the menu.  All washed down with Chardonnay, Cabernet or the drink of your choice from the bar.

The music was terrific - a wonderful jazz trio led by Lars Edegran at the piano, husband of  DBE member Kathy.  The clarinet player Tom Sancton had a fascinating connection with DBE.  The cousin of his 94-year old father was married to the British Consul in Detroit, and she started a DBE chapter in Detroit in 1942.

As usual, the Live Auction was aptly handled by wellknown New Orleans auctioneer John Fowler, assisted by member Maggie Cantwell, and some really cool items were sold.

The evening ended with nostalgia.  A singalong of 'oldies but goodies', like "White Cliffs of Dover," "A Long Way to Tipperary," and "Land of Hope and Glory."

If you missed it this year - make sure you look out for next year's event.
