Louisiana Chapters
CHAUCER chapter, named after poet Geoffrey Chaucer, was founded in September 1976 and has thrived for the past 40+ years. We like to think of ourselves as the "party chapter" because we get so much enjoyment out of everything we do. We help with two State fundraisers - the Spring Tea and the autumn Pub Night. We have our own Bake Sale every September. When we are not having monthly meetings over the summer, we keep in touch with events like a Girls' Night Out and a Barbecue and a Games Night, both for families. We have members from both the Westbank and the Eastbank, and meet in the evenings on the second Wednesday.

SAMUEL PLIMSOLL chapter was formed in 1993. It is named after the inventor of the Plimsoll Line, markings on the side of ships to indicate depth and how much cargo can be carried. Their members are all from the Eastbank of New Orleans. They participate in the two State fundraisers. They meet over dinner on Monday evenings or Sunday afternoons.

STRAWBERRY FIELDS chapter, based in the Baton Rouge area, received its charter in January 2013. They help with the two State Fundraisers and Zoom in to State Board meetings. They meet in the afternoon on the third Sunday of each month. This chapter has a diverse spread of women who range in age from between 30 to 95 years of age. They have a fun, supportive and inclusive atmosphere for members and participate in Founders Day Tea, a Day at the Races and various other DBE related activities.

TURING chapter was chartered in 2023. The name honors DBE member Margo McNeeley, who worked at Bletchley Park. They are based on the northshore of New Orleans. They meet in the afternoon on the second Sunday, and Zoom in to State Board meetings.

DBE members in Louisiana have worked hard throughout the past five decades - first for the Southern District Home, Bramfilles House in Florida, and then later for the newer Home, Mountbatten House, in Highlands, Texas.

During the mid-1980s, Louisiana was honored to host the 22nd National Administration of the DBE, under the inspired leadership of National President, Wendy Roberts, MBE
